From May 6 to May 15, 2024 ACT Lab and engAGE’s B/OLD event series delved into the complexities of aging in contemporary society and the need to work collectively to address related challenges and opportunities.
Taking place at Concordia’s 4TH SPACE, the public “aging fair” brought together voices from diverse sectors including those of research, community organizations, policymakers and the public. The inclusive approach allowed for a comprehensive exploration of topics such as age-friendly cities, promising practices for care, digital inclusion for older adults and innovative approaches for well-being through roundtable discussions, workshops, film screenings, performances and artistic installations. The event series positioned the topic of aging as a dynamic and multifaceted experience that can be influenced by systems of power while also highlighting the resilience, creativity and contributions of older adults.
With over 25 carefully curated events and installations, B/OLD disrupted traditional narratives surrounding aging by challenging stereotypes about later life, and offering a vibrant space for knowledge exchange and co-creation.
