In this workshop, Kate de Medeiros will share her recent work co-developing the AgeSmart Inventory (ASI) tool. The ASI is intended to start interactive dialogues regarding how people use age as an identity, and to act as a means to talk through implicit age bias as it manifests through multiple intersections of class, race and ethnicity, gender, disability, and more. Workshop participants are encouraged to read the open access article The AgeSmart Inventory©: A Multifaceted Tool to Understand Age Bias prior to the workshop.

Participants can also find the AgeSmart Inventory tool here: https://forms.gle/DwqGDC2Reeff1FdB6. If people want a copy of their responses, they can enter their e-mail. If not, they can enter a fictitious e-mail address. Kate will delete all information after the presentation.

Kate de Medeiros is a Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Concordia University. As a social gerontologist, her work has explored various topics related to the experience of growing old to include friendships in later life, the meaning of suffering, and home, place and identity.
